Venice, Florida is a Mediterranean Mayberry set next to the Gulf of Mexico located in Sarasota County. It's a small town with a suburban feel about 40 minutes south of Sarasota, which is larger, but not huge either. It has lots of parks, parades, and festivals, and has Italian Renaissance-style shops in the Main Street district. Venice also boasts an island where a marina and one of the most pristine beaches are located. Venice has beautiful old homes and a charming shopping district. It is one of the best kept secrets until it began to be included in Lists for "Best Place to Retire."
The Public schools in Venice are highly rated and residents tend to be more on the conservative side and most residents own their own homes.
